Lemon Oil

Historical Data: Research by Jean Valnet, M.D., showed that vaporized lemon oil can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, Staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumococcus bacteria within three hours. Even a 0.2% solution of lemon oil can kill diphtheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis bacteria. Lemon oil has been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles and combat acne. Lemon has shown to have antidepressant effects.


Medical Properties: Antitumoral, antiseptic, improves microcirculation, and immune stimulant (increases white blood cells), improves memory, relaxation. Rich in limonene, which has been extensively studied for its ability to combat tumor growth in over 50 clinical studies.

USES: Circulatory problems, arteriosclerosis, obesity, parasites, urinary tract infections, varicose veins, anxiety, depression, hypertension, digestive problems, acne. Lemon has antiseptic-like properties and has positive effects on immune function. It may serve as an insect repellent and may be beneficial for the skin. 

Fragrant Influence: It promotes clarity of thought and purpose with a fragrance is invigorating, enhancing, and warming. In an office environment dramatically improved mental accuracy and concentration. Diffused lemon resulted in 54 percent fewer errors, jasmine 33 percent fewer errors, and lavender 20 percent fewer errors. When aromas were diffused during test taking, scores increased by as much as 50 percent. Citrus fragrances boosted immunity, induced relaxation, and reduced depression.


Application

Dilute 1 part EO with 1 part VO; (1) apply 2-4 drops on location, (2) chakras/vitaflex points, (3) directly inhale, (4) diffuse, or (5) take as dietary supplement (see Appendices E and T).

Cautions: Avoid applying to skin that will be exposed to sunlight or UV light within 24 hours.

Cold pressed from rind. It takes 3,000 lemons to produce a kilo of oil.

1. Using LO will add pure flavor to baked goods or beverages.

2. For homemade lemonade, in a blender mix 2 drops of LO, 2 tablespoons of honey and two cups of pure water. Adjust the amount of each ingredient to suit your own taste.

3. Rubbing a drop of LO on a corn, callous or bunion mornings and evenings may be soothing.

4. To clean & increase the shelf life of fresh fruit, fill a bowl with cool water and 2-3 drops of LO. Drop your cleaned fruit into the water & stir. Be sure all surfaces of the fruit contact the lemon water.

5. Using LO on your hands, cutting board, diswasher, counter tops, discloth will disinfect and sanitize.

6. Putting a drop of LO on sore gums may be soothing.

7. Using LO on oily skin or skin blemishes may help balance (oil glands).

8. Rubbing several drops of LO on cellulite may improve circulation and help eliminate waste from the cells.

9. Rubbing two drops of LO topically may help to clear athlete's foot.

10. Rubbing several drops of LO on legs may improve circulation.

11. Using 6 drops of LO and 6 drops of Purification oil in a squirt bottle mixed with distilled water may help in the bathroom as an air freshener.

12. Using 1-2 drops of LO removes gum, oil, grease spots or crayon.

13. Put 10-15 drops of LO in each gallon of carpet cleaning solution to help pull out stains and brighten the rug.  This also leaves a fresh smell.
